We returned from our trip to NC unscathed. Which considering that within the first 5 hours we were nearly hit by other cars was a complete miracle. :) Just after we got onto 74 to hear towards Cincy, I saw headlights coming towards us. I thought perhaps there was a service road running next to the interstate and then the headlights were RIGHT BY US! Literally coming into my lane. The Truck had gotten on the off ramp to the interstate and was headed the wrong way. After some very lucky swearing and God's hand on us, we missed the guy in the pick up truck. He stopped in the middle of 74, whipped a uturn and got off 74. We still called the police just in case he was a drunk driver.
We drive into KY and just south of Florence, we see a car driving on the left hand shoulder. Now the road is 4 lanes in itself and it is just after midnight, ummm....No traffic no need to drive on the shoulder. The guy is awake as he is turning his brights on and off. Now, let me explain this more clearly...The guy is driving at the speed limit, in the left hand shoulder, next to a concrete wall barrier, playing with his headlights and other than me there MIGHT be 3 cars a ways behind us. I decide to speed up a bit as we are getting ready to enter a construction zone and I want to be as far away from this guy as is possible. Construction signS clearly say, LEFT LANE CLOSE AHEAD. THe guy never gets over. All of a sudden from just behind us we hear a BOOM then no headlights behind us. We (again) called the police and kept on going. (We were too far ahead of him to stop and go back in a construction zone and the cars behind us had caught up and had stopped.
Now you have to remember, my cell phone had died minutes into our trip to NC. THen there was an accident that caused a huge back up and made me get off the interstate and take back roads into Lafayette. Which caused me to drive by a Walmart and I got a car charger for my cell phone because mine had broken. Wow! The way things work out...
However, we stopped in Corbin, KY for the night. It was getting late and the kids had woke up and been up for a bit so we decided to stop since then they would fall asleep more quickly. :) We stopped at a Days Inn (I believe). The guy at the check in window seriously resembled Norman Bates and when we got into our room Mom and I piled our luggage infront of the door. Granted it did not help that I had watched Criminal Minds the Wednesday before and it was similar to the movie Vacancy. (I do not recommend watching this movie if you need to stay in a cheap dive of a motel) As we were checking out on Monday morning, the door would not latch. The only thing that kept our door closed that night was the chain and our luggage...NICE!
We arrived in Mocksville, NC around 3pm. We visited my aunt at work then headed to her house. We have a relatively calm visit. If you ask Gabe the highlight was the RCR racing museum. Since it was SOOOO unseasonably COLD we opted out of going to the Lowes race
track.

I am LMAO at that last pic of Fayeth ... invest in a good dead bolt now!
Sounds like you had a nice trip but man, trouble sure does find you. I'm glad you got home safe and sound.
