I have to brag a bit. I have this wonderful, amazing, beautiful, compassionate and extremely intelligent cousin. Her name is Karley. It has been awesome watching Karley grow up from an itty bitty baby into an amazing young woman. My aunt, Karley's mom, is no less amazing and has withstood a lot of judgment and grief over her decision to home-school her daughter. My Auntie Jane held strong and continue to provide the guidance to Karley that she needed to complete her education. Recently Karley took her GED as is the regulation for Indiana home-schoolers. Karley had been having a ton of migraines (debilitating vomit inducing narcotics cannot touch migraines) and she was able to continue through and take her tests. Over the weekend I got a text message from Karley AND my Auntie Jane. Karley had received her GED scores. The passing average is 450, Honours is 618 and she scored 666. WOOHOO KARLEY!!! We are SOOOO very proud of you. Aunt Jane you are awesome to have held strong to what you knew was best for your daughter. I hope one day I am posting that my children scored honours levels on their GED.
Karley you are AWESOME and AMAZING and NEVER let anyone tell you otherwise. You are such a blessing in our lives. WE LOVE YOU SWEETHEART!!!! XOXOXOXOXO

Science Experiment...
Gabe, Lindsay and Hannah were at my sister's house (Auntie Becca) on Friday while I took Fayeth to the peds for her 3 year well check. While they were outside Auntie Becca told them that they had to have some holes filled with sand and then she was going to have to plant grass seed to grow grass. Gabe (being particularly cranky that day) opted to argue with Auntie Becca and tell her that grass only grows in black dirt. (Dude, we are spoiled because the first owners of the house had 1 ft of black dirt placed over the yard-we only have sand here in NW IN)
Homeschooling at its finest....
So, science experiment here we come.... I will post pics later...

It is no hidden fact that we are homeschooling. For us it is just the best fit for our family. So, the other day while I was scouring over curriculums I felt the need to test the waters and see where the kids stood math wise. I grabbed the addition flash cards to see what the kids knew. Gabe went first and did awesome. He is a bit rusty, but he is really starting to regain what he lost pre-op. Lindsay was in a bad mood and had an attitude so she went to her room to compose herself and check her attitude.
When she came back later she told me that she would much rather do "Language Arts". I asked her if she knew what that was and of course she did not. Since we believe in child led learning I started introducing them to nouns, verbs and adjectives. Hannah had wandered off to do her own thing but was still in ear shot of what we were talking about.
I held up a red and blue toothbrush and asked, "What is a toothbrush?" Lindsay immediately replied, "A THING so it is a NOUN!" I said you are correct. Then I hear this voice from the living room (we were in the kitchen) say, "But if you are talking about the red and blue those are adjectives. They DESCRIBE!" I could not help but laugh. Yes Miss Hannah you are so correct those are adjectives.
I cannot believe that my then 3 year old picked up adjectives so quickly. Those are her favorite questions to answer. She can even pick them out in a simple sentence. :)
