-3 days until Thanksgiving. Ummmm....I need to paint and put up at least 1 tree by then. UGH! Anyone wanna come help paint, clean or put up my tree?
-4 days until I spend the entire day at the Mall. Yes people, I am going to the Mall on Black Friday. But NOT to shop. So that the kids can perform and pass out Flyers for the Nutcracker.
-8 days until dress rehearsal at the Holiday Star. That brings both the thought of sheer panic and the thought of sheer joy. Finale is my favorite part of the production. I am not able to take a picture of finale because a picture is unable to catch the essence of the moment. It is amazing and breathtaking and makes me teary eyed and have goosebumps all at the same time. I have 5 costume to fix. OH MY GOSH! Procrastination!!! LOL
-12 days until our 1st Family Christmas Party of the season. That means I have to buy 1 more gift and finish sewing 1 gift before then. However 4 days of the 12 are going to be full of Nutcracker. YIKES! I am feeling the crunch. Anyone wanna help me sew?
-13 days until we check in for a stay at the RMH.
-14 days until Lindsay has surgery to place a drain. This in itself is enough to cause me to want to drink (HEAVILY) and vomit all at the same time.
I am really having issues with procrastination.
I am having a lot of trouble dealing with the fact that Lindsay has to have a drain trial. I am scared that she is going to need to be shunted. It causes me great anxiety to just think about it. People have this unreal and inaccurate belief that a shunt is the end all fix all. It is not. It is a man made device that if you are a LUCKY ONE you have minimal to no issues with it. However, REALISTICALLY....It is a straw. It clogs, breaks, and in our case we are lucky if the stupid thing works 40% of the time. Well, since we have this experience and we are now wise enough to realize that sometimes it is better left alone... Lindsay is going to have to show remarkable results with the drain trial. Gabe was EXCELLENT with the drain and he is still doing crappy so we are going to basically need the Hand of God to come down and tell us that shunting her IS what he wants for her because otherwise...It is not happening. We will do serial lumbar punctures before shunting her if the results are not what we need from them.
I know I said I would update about Gabe's appointment and I have briefly spoke to most of you about it. However it has taken me this long just to get to a point where I no longer have the horrible feelings that I did. Now...I just do not wish to talk about it and relive the appointment. Suffice to say, we need to see the plastic surgeon and I will make that appointment for January or February.
Oh, another thing that irritates me.... People who think that they have it worse than everyone else. ARGH! SHUT UP! Your child is not dying. It CAN be worse. ARGH! PMS...IS.A.BITCH

NC Trip
We returned from our trip to NC unscathed. Which considering that within the first 5 hours we were nearly hit by other cars was a complete miracle. :) Just after we got onto 74 to hear towards Cincy, I saw headlights coming towards us. I thought perhaps there was a service road running next to the interstate and then the headlights were RIGHT BY US! Literally coming into my lane. The Truck had gotten on the off ramp to the interstate and was headed the wrong way. After some very lucky swearing and God's hand on us, we missed the guy in the pick up truck. He stopped in the middle of 74, whipped a uturn and got off 74. We still called the police just in case he was a drunk driver.
We drive into KY and just south of Florence, we see a car driving on the left hand shoulder. Now the road is 4 lanes in itself and it is just after midnight, ummm....No traffic no need to drive on the shoulder. The guy is awake as he is turning his brights on and off. Now, let me explain this more clearly...The guy is driving at the speed limit, in the left hand shoulder, next to a concrete wall barrier, playing with his headlights and other than me there MIGHT be 3 cars a ways behind us. I decide to speed up a bit as we are getting ready to enter a construction zone and I want to be as far away from this guy as is possible. Construction signS clearly say, LEFT LANE CLOSE AHEAD. THe guy never gets over. All of a sudden from just behind us we hear a BOOM then no headlights behind us. We (again) called the police and kept on going. (We were too far ahead of him to stop and go back in a construction zone and the cars behind us had caught up and had stopped.
Now you have to remember, my cell phone had died minutes into our trip to NC. THen there was an accident that caused a huge back up and made me get off the interstate and take back roads into Lafayette. Which caused me to drive by a Walmart and I got a car charger for my cell phone because mine had broken. Wow! The way things work out...
However, we stopped in Corbin, KY for the night. It was getting late and the kids had woke up and been up for a bit so we decided to stop since then they would fall asleep more quickly. :) We stopped at a Days Inn (I believe). The guy at the check in window seriously resembled Norman Bates and when we got into our room Mom and I piled our luggage infront of the door. Granted it did not help that I had watched Criminal Minds the Wednesday before and it was similar to the movie Vacancy. (I do not recommend watching this movie if you need to stay in a cheap dive of a motel) As we were checking out on Monday morning, the door would not latch. The only thing that kept our door closed that night was the chain and our luggage...NICE!
We arrived in Mocksville, NC around 3pm. We visited my aunt at work then headed to her house. We have a relatively calm visit. If you ask Gabe the highlight was the RCR racing museum. Since it was SOOOO unseasonably COLD we opted out of going to the Lowes race
track.

Question....
At what age would you allow your child to go away to a camp for 7 days. At this camp you cannot supervise, it is in a different state and is an awesome opportunity? (On a side note, the parent can stay at a hotel nearby)
