SURPRISE!!!!!

My Sister, Becca, turned 31 this year. For YEARS (and I AM NOT exaggerating) we have heard all about her "GOLDEN BIRTHDAY". You know the year you turn the same age as your date of birth. This year Becca turned 31.

Her husband, Tom, asked my mom and I to organize a surprise party for her. So we picked the date and we ran with it. Tom only got information on a Need to Know basis as he has a hard time keeping a secret.

It is no secret in the family, my sister is a baker. I have relinquisted control at birthdays and have allowed her to make the cakes for my kids birthdays. Becca HATES store bought cake and I was starting to get a little stressed about the thought of making her cake. You know, my ego was on the line here because if the little shit made one comment about my cake I would probably throw her ass into my mother's pool.

While I was telling Darren my concerns he said to me, "Why don't you order a cake from her?" I thought for a bit...I could make this work. I decided to ring my sister and the conversation went like this.

Me: Hi Becca! What are you going Saturday?

Becca: Nothing

Me: Can you make a cake for my friend Brandi?

Becca: Sure! Let me get my notebook.

Me: She want enough cake to feed 75-80 people. Banana and white cake. (Banana is Becca's favorite cake) Frosted in plain white with gold ribbon around the edge. She has an image and decorations that she is going to put on it so there is no need to write anything on the cake.

Becca: Are you sure?

Me: I am very sure.

And that was the start of the deception. I called my mom and told her what I did and we LAUGHED our asses off. The next morning Becca calls me...

Becca: Do you think that Brandi would want 1/2 banana sheet cake and the rest as cup cakes?

Me: I dunno. Let me call her and get back to you.

I hang up with Becca and call my mom. Tell her what is going on and we decide on Banana cake and cup cakes. I call Becca back.

Me: Hi Hon! The banana cake and white cup cakes are a great idea. Brandi said she has hard sugar candies that she will put on them.

Becca: What is the theme?

Me: Oh Mickey Mouse.

Becca: Are you sure that I can't....

Me: No Becca. Brandi has control issues like us. She was a kindy teacher.

Becca: Okay that is easy enough. When will she drop off the cake.

Me: She is going to drive down on Saturday afternoon to pick up the cake. So if you can have it at my house by 3 that would be great.

And that is the way it started. Now it was a great source of amusement because it was really irritating to my sister to have to decorate a pretty plain cake and she much have complained to my mom 10 times about this "boring and plain" cake. My mom (surprisingly enough) was able to keep a straight face about the cake and just let her vent while almost pissing her pants in hysterical laughter AFTER my sister left.

Saturday Becca dropped off the cake and it had gold edible sprinkles on it and the cup cakes, ect. She did not linger. THANK GOD since I had a ton of work to do and she went on her Merry way. I finished decorating her cake and headed over to my moms house to set up.

After she and Tom arrived she was SURPRISED. She was quite surprised when she looked at Tom and said, "OH MY GOD! Did that Bitch have me make my own cake??!!!" Tom could not lie and told her yes! It was PRICELESS!!!

So Becca...Happy GOLDEN BIRTHDAY Lil' Sis! I hope you enjoyed your party and I hope you liked your cake. I heard the lady who baked it for you is a real perfectionist. I love you!!!!
